These types of posts make me feel better about being a lady power lifter :)…I’m gay now.
rebloggin’ this because recently on my dash i saw people talk about female superhero body types in the comic industry and how the industry is fucked because they use sports illustrated swimsuit models as their base body type.
…and i mean really, shouldn’t they all look like this?? I mean this woman’s athlete’s body is essentially how I’ve always pictured superheroines like Power Girl and Wonder Woman to be built. Female characters in fighting games often are this muscular (Chun-Li and her thighs spring immediately to mind), so why are they still portraying our female superheroes as looking like Gisele Bundchen?
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, you guys, this is what I’m going to look like. Actually, this is almost what I look like now. But I’m going to look more like it. Except for her darling pixie face. That’s all her <3
P.S. Apparently her name is Samantha Wright! New fandom.
Well when it comes to body types and athletes there are many different types of bodies depending on biomechanics, type of sport, training for that sport, height and weight class. So to say ‘female athletic body type’ is one thing or another is a bit of a stretch. Though one thing is generally true: Muscles.
Very true! http://ninamatsumoto.wordpress.com/2010/12/18/athletic-body-diversity-reference-for-artists/
